Explanation:-

Slipped tendon or Perosis is a metabolic disease that causes deforming leg weakness in chickens, ducks and turkeys. It is usually seen in poultry less than six weeks of age and results in flattened and enlarged hocks joint. Perosis, a disorder of chicks, turkey and poultry which is characterized by enlargement of the hock, twisted metatarsi, and slipped tendons. Perosis or chondrodystrophy or slipped tendon is encountered in young birds whose diet is deficient in manganese (Mn), choline, zinc, either singly or in combination (although deficiencies of pyridoxine, biotin, folic acid, niacin may also be involved). This condition is seen in chickens, ducks and turkeys. In turkeys it may be an inherited deficiency of galactosamine.

Treatment:-

It can be largely eliminated by adding manganese or some of the following vitamins: choline, nicotic acid, pyridoxine, biotin or folic acid to the diet. 1)- Tendon repair may involve a surgeon making a cut (incision) in your wrist, hand or finger so they can locate the ends of the divided tendon and stitch them together. Extensor tendons are easier to reach, so repairing them is relatively straightforward.
